Thomson Whisky crafts innovative New Zealand single malt whiskies and small‑batch gin with a focus on local ingredients, native wood smoke and traditional pot still distillation.
Established as an independent whisky producer and later launching its own distillery in Riverhead northwest of Auckland, Thomson Whisky has become one of New Zealand’s leading craft whisky makers. The distillery uses just water, yeast and malted barley to produce single malt whisky aged in a range of casks including ex‑bourbon and New Zealand wine barrels, with smoke derived from native Manuka wood and South Island peat. Their approach emphasises quality, creativity and authenticity -creating whisky that reflects New Zealand’s unique natural environment rather than replicating styles from overseas. In addition to whisky, Thomson also produces Victor Gin using a carefully curated botanical blend.
