Pure NZ Overproof Rum is a high-strength expression from The NZ Rum Co, created to showcase the bigger, bolder side of the producer’s New Zealand-made rum. Bottled at 55% ABV, it retains the concentrated character of the spirit before barrel maturation.
The rum came from the same production that was destined for barrel ageing, with the portion that did not make it into the barrel instead bottled at overproof strength. The result is a punchy expression designed to present the rum with greater intensity and strength.
Pure NZ Overproof Rum received significant recognition at the 2024 Rumbles NZ Rum Awards, earning a Gold Medal as well as Best in Class and Best NZ Made Rum. It also achieved Gold in the Overproof category at the inaugural New Zealand Rum Awards.
