Hector’s Platinum Ink Gin

A small-batch New Zealand gin made with 13 coastal botanicals plus butterfly pea extract, creating a deep ink-blue spirit that changes to blush pink with tonic or citrus.

Hector’s Platinum Ink Gin is a colour-changing New Zealand craft gin inspired by Aotearoa’s coastline. It uses the same 13 coastal botanicals found in Hector’s Premium Dry Gin, with butterfly pea extract added as a fourteenth botanical to create its distinctive natural colour.

The botanical recipe combines native sea kelp, mānuka, thyme, lemon myrtle, orange, lavender, cardamom, cinnamon, angelica root, orris root, liquorice root, coriander seed and juniper. Together they create a coastal gin profile led by juniper, subtle salinity, native botanicals and bright citrus character.

Butterfly pea extract gives Platinum Ink its deep ink-blue appearance. When tonic water or citrus is added, the natural pigment reacts to the change in acidity and transforms to blush pink, creating a distinctive visual element while retaining the gin’s coastal botanical character.
