A very dry New Zealand London Dry Gin from The Vicar’s Son, crafted from an exceptionally pure barley-based neutral spirit with bright lemon, cardamom, juniper and lime.
Without Sin Gin is a distinctive London Dry style gin from The Vicar’s Son, created around an exceptionally pure neutral base spirit. Unlike most of the distillery’s range, where the agricultural character of the barley is intentionally retained, Without Sin begins with a barley spirit distilled beyond 96% ABV to create an extremely clean foundation.
Producing this neutral spirit requires an unusually slow distillation process. The Vicar’s Son reduces the size and speed of each run to reach the required purity before distilling the spirit again with botanicals. The gin then undergoes 20 vapour-infusion extraction cycles to capture flavour and aroma.
The botanical recipe features Macedonian juniper alongside lemon and lime peel, nutmeg, red and green pepper, almonds, cinnamon, cardamom, poppy seeds, liquorice, coriander and angelica. The exceptionally clean base allows these botanicals to come through clearly, creating a distinctly dry and precise style.
On the palate, the pure spirit character appears first, followed by clean lemon and cardamom. Juniper and lime develop afterwards, resulting in a crisp, botanical gin with prominent citrus character. The finished gin is diluted with Antipodes water to 46% ABV, with only seven bottles produced in the listed batch.
