Single Botanical Juniper Vodka/Gin

A distinctive single-botanical New Zealand spirit from The Vicar’s Son, distilled solely with juniper for an exceptionally smooth, piney and fruit-forward character.

The Vicar’s Son Single Botanical Juniper Vodka/Gin sits between two spirit styles. The distillery describes it as either a single-botanical gin or a vodka distilled with juniper, allowing the character of one of gin’s most important botanicals to take centre stage.

Production follows the same approach used for gin. Juniper flavour is extracted using liquid infusion before being distilled with the vodka during a fourth distillation. With no additional botanicals competing for attention, the finished spirit provides a focused expression of juniper.

The tasting profile is smooth and distinctly pine-like, with the natural oils from the juniper creating a coating sensation on the palate. The distillery also notes fruity juniper berry character and a subtle peppery quality. Because of the high level of natural juniper oil, the spirit may develop slight cloudiness over time.

Each 700ml bottle uses 2.5kg of Gladfield barley, with the finished spirit cut to 40% ABV using Antipodes water. Production is exceptionally limited, with only seven bottles made in the listed batch.
