Ascension Gin

A contemporary New Zealand gin from The Vicar’s Son featuring juniper, wild grapefruit peel and Mandarina Bavaria hops, with fresh citrus, gentle pepper and a long, smooth finish.

Ascension Gin is a small-batch contemporary gin from The Vicar’s Son, built around a highly aromatic combination of juniper, citrus, hops and warming spice. Its botanical recipe is particularly generous, using approximately 90 grams of botanicals per litre of alcohol to create depth and complexity.

Macedonian juniper provides the classic gin foundation, while wild grapefruit peel introduces bright citrus character. Mandarina Bavaria hops and lemon thyme add fresh herbal and aromatic notes, complemented by white and black pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom and other traditional gin botanicals.

The aroma is fresh and light with juniper, subtle grapefruit and hop notes. On the palate, Ascension is soft and smooth, with grapefruit and hops complementing the peppery character of the juniper. The finish is long, creating an elegant and refreshing contemporary gin profile.

The grain-based spirit is fermented and distilled four times before resting for at least three weeks prior to bottling. It is diluted with Antipodes water to 46% ABV and is not chill filtered, allowing the botanical oils and flavours to remain in the finished gin. Production is exceptionally small, with only seven bottles made per batch.
