A rare 30-year-old New Zealand single malt with stone fruit, mature cedar, warming spice, dried orange, vanilla and roasted almond.
The Otago 30 Year Old is a rare New Zealand single malt distilled at Dunedin’s historic Willowbank Distillery in 1987.
Made using barley grown in North Otago, the whisky spent three decades maturing in American oak ex-bourbon casks. During this time, the casks travelled between three South Island locations: Willowbank in North Dunedin, the Taieri Valley and The New Zealand Whisky Collection’s seaside bond store in Oamaru.
Thirty years of maturation have created a silky, full-textured whisky with mature cedar, stone fruit and gentle spice. Dried Seville orange and cloves develop across the palate, followed by a lingering finish of seasoned oak, vanilla and roasted almond.
Bottled at 44.7% ABV, The Otago represents a rare surviving expression from New Zealand’s earlier whisky-making history.
